Pure Natural Marine Collagen Committed to Sustainable Development

Discover how Collagen Vital Power sources pure natural marine collagen from fish skin, supporting sustainable fishing, ocean preservation and eco-responsible production.

Pure Natural Marine Collagen Committed to Sustainable Development

COLLAGEN VITAL has chosen to use the finest raw material for its pure natural marine collagen: fish — while committing to sustainable development.

And not by using the most commonly exploited resource — the fillet, which feeds the population — but rather the unexploited part that contains the best collagen: fish skin.

Our goal is twofold: to preserve the primary resource and the balance of marine populations, while also enabling the valorisation of a by-product that was too often destined for simple disposal.

A brief look back:

A sustainable and eco-responsible fishing industry

To ensure sustainable fishing, resource and catch management is essential. Marine biologists tasked with estimating the size and sustainability of living marine resources measure "stocks" — i.e. the exploitable portion of a population (based on fish age, breeding population, reproduction, life expectancy, and marine pollution).

This "stock" management makes it possible to measure and quantify available fishing capacity.

A sustainable fishery is one where the harvested stock does not damage the health of the marine population and ensures the viability of the resource. It is therefore up to fishers to manage their catch carefully so as not to destabilise the regular renewal of fish stocks. This is referred to as an optimal, balanced level of fishing — one that also allows fishers to sustain their livelihoods long-term.

Preserving the freshness of raw materials and traceability of origins

Fish is a highly perishable commodity and, to enter the food supply chain, it must be quickly transported and then processed and/or packaged within a very short timeframe. It can then appear in various forms on shelves: fresh, dried, salted, smoked, chilled, frozen, freeze-dried, canned…

Human consumption primarily uses fillets. But to extract our collagen, we only need the skin, which yields a purer collagen that is richer in peptides.

We chose to work with fisheries that use the fillets but previously had no use for other by-products, such as the fish skin. The skins are frozen immediately at the fillet preparation stage to preserve their freshness. We collect them for our collagen production, enabling the positive recycling of a resource that was previously discarded.

Upon arrival, the fish skins are analysed to guarantee supply safety — in particular, the absence of contaminants. These deliveries are then recorded to ensure complete traceability from the raw material supplier through to our production.

Marine collagen produced in our laboratory in western France

This raw material is transformed through the process and technology of our laboratory in western France — a certified laboratory meeting the strictest quality standards — to extract the finest beauty and health supplements.

Our location in the western region allows us to favour short supply chains wherever possible.

The valorisation of this eco-product from the marine industry — a form of upcycling applied to the food chain — makes us extremely proud, as we are contributing, at our scale, to environmental respect and the building of a sustainable world.

A permanent commitment to reducing our environmental impact

Our environmental contribution does not stop at valorising fish skin. We are also committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our production process, as well as reducing our water consumption.

We constantly strive to use only the bare minimum of water and energy resources needed to extract collagen molecules from the frozen fish skins we receive.

Likewise, our packaging is printed by a company committed to environmental protection and certified with the Imprim'Vert label.

COLLAGEN VITAL: A commitment to ocean preservation

Beyond our direct commitments regarding our products and processes, we have also decided to support initiatives for ocean preservation by sponsoring them.

In this regard, we support the Moorea association Coral Gardeners, involved in rebuilding coral reefs, by funding implants that, once grown, will strengthen damaged reefs so they can once again serve as natural habitat for fish.

We also support the association The Sea Cleaners, founded by Franco-Swiss sailor Yvan Bourgnon, whose MANTA project aims to build the first vessel capable of collecting large quantities of floating plastic waste at sea before it sinks and degrades, permanently polluting the oceans and threatening marine biodiversity. The technical and innovative dimension of this project also perfectly reflects the DNA of COLLAGEN VITAL POWER — a high-performance, innovative nutri-functional product.

Proud of our environmental commitments, proud of our essential contribution to the valorisation of by-products that were previously destroyed, proud of our expertise and of a product manufactured entirely in France, we strive every day to deliver the excellence of marine collagen — contributing to the nutritional benefits for beauty and health that our customers seek.

Using marine resources, we are also extremely vigilant about the pollution challenges facing our blue planet.
